Mark E. Vandermeulen

Mark specializes in representing clients through various stages of commercial real estate transactions and development, including a focus on multi-family, single-family subdivision, retail, and office sectors. His deep understanding of commercial real estate dynamics enables him to provide comprehensive and effective guidance through complex transactions. Notably, Mark has successfully represented a private equity investment firm in the disposition of a $250 million multi-family portfolio sale in central Texas and facilitated the acquisition and negotiation of substantial construction loan financing for multi-family developments in New Mexico and central Texas, with loans exceeding $50 million and $44 million.

Mark earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2010, graduating magna cum laude and as a member of the Order of the Coif. He received his B.S. in Radio-Television-Film from The University of Texas at Austin in 2000. He is an active member of the State Bar of Texas and has been involved with the Austin Bar Association's Real Estate Section, serving on its Board of Directors since 2017, and as the Treasurer since 2023.

Additionally, Mark has contributed to legal scholarship, including publications such as "Casenote: The Texas Supreme Court Holds Hydraulic Fracturing Trespass Claim is Precluded by the Rule of Capture" in the SMU Law Review (Spring 2009) and "EB-5 – A Call to Foreign Investors From U.S. Developers and Business Owners" in Real Estate Law360 (April 13, 2012). These contributions highlight his expertise and active engagement with the legal community, enhancing his ability to serve his clients effectively.

Mark enjoys spending his time away from work with his family, (trying to) play golf, watching college football, and coaching his daughter’s soccer team. Mark is an avid film buff and music enthusiast.
